Location EDF is a fast-growing company specializing in equipment and heavy machinery rentals in Terrebonne, Quebec. We are looking for a Class 1 driver to join our dynamic and professional team.
Responsabilities
- Drive mainly tractor-trailers, long articulated vehicles and straight trucks weighing more than 4,500 kg to transport goods
- Plan travel logistics and obtain documentation required to transport goods
- Inspect truck systems, equipment and accessories such as tires, lights and indicators, brakes and refrigeration compartments before, during and after the trip
- Ensure that cargo is properly stowed and secured according to safety rules, and follow safety procedures when transporting dangerous goods.
- Obtain special licenses and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
- Record information on loads, hours of service, distances traveled and fuel consumption
- Administer bills of lading and maintain waybills electronically or manually
- Communicate with dispatchers, other truck drivers and customers using communication devices and on-board computers
- Carry out emergency roadside repairs as required
- Be part of a two-truck team or convoy, if applicable
- Transport dangerous substances or goods as required
Skills required
- A high school diploma
- Class 1 or A driver's license required
- Good writing skills in French
- Valid work permit for Canada
Good to have
- Ability to use GPS and navigation software
- Ability to carry out minor vehicle repairs
- Safety and first aid knowledge
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other staff members
- Good level of English
